Looking within the Asian American and NHPI Communities
The term "Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander" covers one of the most diverse populations in the United States — spanning dozens of ethnicities, languages, immigration histories, and economic realities. When we treat this community as a single data category, we hide as much as we reveal.
This dashboard uses individual-level data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2020-2024) to show what disaggregation looks like in practice. Across seven data panels, you can explore educational attainment, poverty, income, nativity, English proficiency, and health insurance coverage — broken down not just by broad racial category, but by specific AANHPI ethnic communities.
